Week of April 18th - 22nd | Creation & Exhibitions of Learning Preparation

Exhibitions of Learning are successful because of the efforts of every member of our community. It is time to make sure you are executing your project plans and seeking support if needed. You are making your thinking and making your making public, how do you want to engage your audience?

While you are living inside your own project, we also need you to participate in EoL planning. Please be attentive to emails regarding materials, schedules, and project details.

Invitations

One of our goals this semester is to get more community members to attend. Madison, Autumn, and student artists have been collaborating to design these postcards. Consider who you will invite to enrich our conversations. (We will distribute postcards as soon as they are printed. In the meantime, you can invite via the Facebook event.)

Week of April 11th - 15th | Creation Phase - Habits and Quality

How are you developing your habits through the process of creating this project? What is the nature of work and collaboration in your disciplinary groups? What are the characteristics of quality you are expecting from yourself in this project?

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
  • On Tuesday, April 12th all students who requested a roundtable format for Exhibitions of Learning will meet with Molly, Madison, and Kimberly to discuss alternatives. You will be asked to justify why you feel it is the best format for your project, and only a few will be approved. This is due to space constraints.
  • Look for opportunities to support your peers project. It was great to see people at open mic last week and there is a call for submissions below:

Week of April 4th - 8th | Creation Phase

Welcome back from spring break! We hope that everyone has had a refreshing week and taken some time to envision or even work on the details of your project.

Groups should take some time to reconnect to each other and individual projects, because this month is all about making the most of time and resources in order to fulfill our own expectations for quality and expression. Remember to keep in mind the essence of your project - What are you trying to express? What problem are you trying to solve?  Project block groups should follow their daily and weekly routines

NOTES:

  • Please complete this student survey as a do now this week.
  • Take time to look at the calendar and adjust project plans accordingly. How will you use time outside of Project Block?
  • Anticipate your Exhibition of Learning. We need your project details in order to prepare for the event.
  • Art Supply Requests must be made this week.
  • Jupiter now shows Habits of Work for each week >> As a group, discuss what those grades will represent. Consider what will be most valuable in marking progress toward project goals, perhaps the evidence will be studio journals, sketchbooks, drafts and prototypes, etc. Also note that on May first, we will use disciplinary rubrics for an initial assessment of the products or drafts.
  • Since Dan, Addie, and Stuart have not yet made it to the Arts Center, they will need to arrange a day to do so in the next two weeks.
Tuesday, April 5th - Open Mic at the ARTry 5:00pm - Asiah will be our MC
