All Project Proposals must be named Firstname Lastname | Proposal | Spring 2017 and shared with your current Project advisor by the end of P-block on Friday, February 3rd (use regular email).
Your formal proposal is both a showcase of your current understanding and an appeal to your project advisors. Use academic writing conventions and your Habits of Professionalism to provide a detailed vision for your project that includes specific outcomes, preliminary research, and a clear plan. FORMAT:
Proposals must be typed in MLA format, with your name, group members names, and date in the upper left corner, no title, and complete, indented paragraphs. Use a standard 12 pt font. Cite specific research. Proofread.
SUBMISSION:
TBD Please stay tuned for details. At this time, the most important thing is that your proposal is shared with your P-Block ideation advisor.
AREAS OF AVOIDANCE:
(Avoiding the “it's been done”, issues that we cannot make a dent in, or projects that are not feasible due to time, money, equipment, or safety concerns.)
- Projects that say “How _____ affects the brain?”
- Product focused or information-based rather than discovery driven (closed mindset)
- Any weapon based or violent action based projects
- Topics that lack any researchable background or only based on hearsay evidence
- Justifications for illegal activity
Methods of Developing an Innovative Project
- Push outside your comfort zone in at least one aspect in your project
- Look at problems and topics from an interdisciplinary approach
- A deeply embedded collaboration between multidisciplinary minds
- Seeking out solutions to social and civil problems and taking action.
