Week of November 14-18 | Creation Phase Continued

After an eventful week last week, groups should be into their ritualized weeks.  If your group is still working through the ritualized week, you can follow the plans as previously laid out.  Blogs will come out with Announcements this week, but lesson plans will be based on the discipline group and their advisor. This week we will have seminar previews on Thursday for Trimester 2 seminars.

This is our last full week of the trimester, make it count!

Monday | Professional Models

  • Your group may be looking at professional models or following your own ritualized week.

Tuesday | Work-shopping a Project

  • Workshop a single project and give valuable feedback
  • Yearlong projects will be checking in with Tim during the class period (He will seek you out). 
  • Fill out Seminar Preview Form that will be sent out for today. 

Wednesday | Tinker in your Discipline

  • Take the first 15 minutes of class to dive into something engaging in your discipline such as creative movement, take apart something, write a short story, doodle a poodle, etc. Then return to your studio time journals.

Thursday | Seminar Preview Day
  • You will not have IDEAS Block time for working on projects.  Seminar previews will happen in the following schedule (may be changing, so be flexible and watch the blog):
    • 10:00-10:25 | Seminar One Preview
    • 10:25-10:30 | Passing Time
    • 10:30-10:55 | Seminar Two Preview
    • 10:55-11:00 | Passing Time
    • 11:00-11:15 | Seminar Registration (Form to be sent out)
Friday | Small group Feedback

  • Break off into Groups of three and follow the Micro Lab protocol for Feedback. 
  • Evidence Check one will be completed by you and your advisor by the end of today (through one on one conferencing).

Do Next (15 minutes)
  • The Micro Lab Protocol (IDEAS Block Advisor acts as timer for the group)
    • Groups of 3 - Number of based on the number of groups needed (15 students - 5 groups).  Students who are in the same group are not to be in the same sharing group.
      • Students each get 3 minute to share their project and creation they have thus far.  Only the sharing student is allowed to speak.  
      • After each student shares, there is 15 seconds of silence for everyone to process what was said and thinking about connections for what can be said later on.  
      • After students have all shared, there is 5 minutes to share as a group in overflow (what did not get a chance to be said).

Goal Setting (13 minutes)
  • (3 minutes) - Completed on Studio Time Journal following Smart Goal format.  Pair and Share Goals
  • (5 minutes) - Goal Sharing: Quick 3-5 words
  • (5 minutes) - Get set up and started based on goal. Do you understand what you need to do?  Do you have any frustrations or setbacks?

Studio Time (37 minutes) Return to classroom spaces by 11:00 if working in the hallways!
  • 15 minutes: Start studio time with directed purpose behind what you are accomplishing. Last 5 minutes clean up the room if studio time involved building materials or art supplies
  • 2 minutes: Circle up and check on progress in studio time.  What did you accomplish? What are you struggling with?
  • 15 minutes: Continued studio time
  • 5 minutes - Take time to Pair-Share your accomplishments and quick feedback before you write your reflections.

Ticket Out (5 minutes)

  • Complete studio time reflections completed on Studio Time Journal sheets
  • Fill out the Materials Request Form for Stuart.
  • Fill out Exhibitions of Learning FormSurvey

Thursday November 10th, 2016 | Workshopping and Extended Studio Time

  • Review, tweak, and commit to routines and ways you will document progress individually and as a group.

  • Tomorrow your advisor will be checking evidence of creation with you.  Please make sure you have your evidence ready to show.

Do Now (5 minutes) Prepare for Workshopping
  • Prepare as though you are presenting your project today based on the evidence you have right now.  What have you created thus far?
Do Next (15 minutes)
  • Workshopping Method
    • Circle up - Choose someone to present their project components. Take 8 minutes to present your project.
    • Feedback - Others complete their feedback on a slip of paper or postit note.  Write down Warm/Cool/Suggestions for feedback.  Remember to keep feedback specific and think about what kind of feedback you would want. When you are done with a piece of feedback, crumple it into a ball and toss it into the middle of the circle for a Trash Talk.  When the presentation is complete, everyone grab a piece of feedback from the middle and share out responses from the paper.
