It is great to see active hallways and critical tweaks happening to projects this week. Next week we aim to complete projects. Yes, that's right, complete! As we realize our proposals (or versions of them), it's time to create artist statements that will distill our thinking for ourselves and for our audiences.

Week of April 27th - May 1st | Professional Model and Exhibition Prep
The focus for this week is to begin shaping exhibitions through reflection on a professional model and creating an outline. On Wednesday morning, Colleen Machut's theater troupe will be performing and exhibiting their work in the cafeteria from 8:00 - 9:30am. In preparation for this, disciplinary groups should incorporate the following documents into Do Nows on Monday and Tuesday:
- Core Principals : What would the core principals of your project be?
- Program : Connect. Extend. Envision. Based on the program, what can we anticipate for the model Exhibition we will see on Wednesday?
It is time to start thinking about how to exhibit projects. We will host mini-workshops for outlining, presenting, and more. Please start preparation by reviewing the Exhibitions Language Arts page.
Please review last week's post for details regarding Evidence Check and Exhibitions Planning.
Evidence Check:
You can report progress in Jupiter using the most recent "assignments" entered for Feedback, Habits, and Art Form. Please use the comment portion of Jupiter to clarify progress for students, parents, and advisors.
Exhibitions:
Molly has send an email referencing students who have not completed the Exhibition Form. Please check the email for names, conference with these students, and complete the form.
Peter is organizing panels and roundtables using this spreadsheet. Please review and reach out to experts you know might be interested in supporting these projects.
Week of April 20-24 | Professional Models and Habits
At the end of this week we will be one month from Exhibitions of learning! This is "gut-check" week! The week you ask yourself: "What do I have to do to make this project happen? to meet the expectations that I set for myself? to create a high quality interpretation in order to engage an audience in new thinking about my topic?"
Habits of Professionalism:
Research Paper Redux:
MAY 14th - Louder Than A Bomb is a documentary about young spoken word poets showing at the JMKAC. They are just beginning a residency that will continue into the fall. They are doing a special showing of the film for us.
Habits of Professionalism:
- EARLY WEEK: Revisit your Habits of Learning Conversation from early in the semester (connecting it to the creation phase now) and/or Habits of Work Paper Sculptures (giving the opportunity for revision or remaking, as a reflection on the creative process). Everyone should have the intention of organizing or maintaining evidence for their Evidence Check on Friday.
- MID WEEK: Professional Models are always important, there are two significant experiences to consider this week. How will the Lexicon of Sustainability (Re: Karen Mead Library on Wednesday) and Camille Brown (Grades 9 and 10 at JMKAC on Wednesday) CONNECT/EXTEND/CHALLENGE your project?
- FRIDAY: Evidence Check. As a disciplinary group, you will follow through on your evidence plan for this semester. Advisors are encouraged to have a whole group, small group, or 1:1 conference to review evidence and connect the evidence to Habits. This evidence check will be reported to Jupiter to give students, parents, and everyone an indicator of how projects are progressing.
Exhibitions of Learning:
- If you have not completed the form to sign up for an Exhibition space, please see Molly's email and do so as soon as possible.
- Exhibitions are on May 26th and 28th. Please take off of work and plan accordingly.
Research Paper Redux:
- Communicate and meet with Addie to make sure that your completed or revised Research Papers are reviewed.
UPCOMING PROFESSIONAL MODELS:
(Please adjust your calendars, as these will take place during P-Block.)
APRIL 29th - Colleen Machut and the Huzzah Theater Troop will be performing as a professional model for the creative process and for an Exhibition of Learning. This will be at IDEAS. (We are looking for a staff volunteer to cover Coleen's first class.)
MAY 14th - Louder Than A Bomb is a documentary about young spoken word poets showing at the JMKAC. They are just beginning a residency that will continue into the fall. They are doing a special showing of the film for us.
The Week of April 7-10th | Exhibition and Evidence Planning
This week disciplinary groups will use the routines and structures that were set up before break. Groups are encouraged to discuss, evaluate, and tweak routines, as the creation phase progresses. Any changes made should be documented in the Ritualized Weeks document. Please use the same document to support students with multi-disciplinary projects and who may need to participate in the professional models, feedback, or other aspects of another discipline.

Students, with the support of their advisors and disciplinary groups, should ensure they manage the following:
DISCIPLINARY GROUPS
INDIVIDUAL PROJECTS
Students, with the support of their advisors and disciplinary groups, should ensure they manage the following:
- Language Arts - Please communicate with Addie regarding Bridge Paper revisions. Schedule Writing Conferences. Make sure that she has access to your Project Block Google Folder within your LA folder.
- Calendar - At this point, each person should have a hard copy calendar filled out to the end of the trimester. Each day should have some specific project intention or a school/group intention. Best practice is to update each day as they happen, but don't erase your intention. Instead, reflect on the factors that are affecting your progress. What did you intend? What did you actually do? What's your next step?
- Exhibitions of Learning - Advisors will conference with each student to help complete the Spring Exhibitions 2015 form. The information documented on this form will be used to schedule venues and publish programs. It is essential that you take the time to envision your project and your exhibition prior to completing the form. Exhibitions are on May 26th and 28th.
DISCIPLINARY GROUPS
- Routinized Week - If you have not already created and shared your daily/weekly routines, please do so in the Ritualized Week document. Please look at the examples in the document and the previous post for some ideas. Please do this by THURSDAY, APRIL 9
- Evidence of Learning - As a group, identify the types and purposes of evidence you'll have for Habits of Work and Habits of Communication throughout the Creation Phase. Please do this by FRIDAY, APRIL 10. The first evidence reflection will be at the end of April.
