Announcements
  • Students watch your email for updates from Addie about your final writing component. She will email you to pick up your rubric during IDEAS Block once she has graded your paper. 
  • Students will stay with research advisors and rotate to new advisors tomorrow. 
  • Any students who are completing the process for Yearlong Projects, please email Tim as soon as possible for a check point on panel meetings and formal writing components.

  • Quick Jot/Draw - Create a Headline OR Draw a color, shape, and line to represent to represent your answer(s) to the question. Please record this in either an interactive notebook, electronic notebook, or even on visible Post-Its as a group. 
    • What is your creative intent for your project? How do you see the creativity in the ideas of your project blossoming? 
  • Circle up - Share out your intent in a Go-Around 
    • Keep your creative intent in a safe place, it will continue to exist throughout your project!

    • Remember to name your documents as FIRSTNAME LASTNAME | [title of document] | Fall 2016 
  • Establish Choose from the following options for Studio Time that best represent your needs
    • DO NOT Revise right now! - Use your own time. Your formal writing component was due on October 21st and Addie is making her way through to write feedback on everyone of our 160 formal writing components. If you were given feedback on your paper and there are any standards that are less than proficient, please revise with patience. Revisions will most likely not be recorded or adjusted in the gradebook immediately.
    • Materials List: This should not take long, so please get your list completed. The Material survey and ordering must be turned in by Thursday, October 28th if you need materials ordered through the school. Materials will be purchased on a first come, first serve basis. 
    • Calendar: Establish a calendar or Gantt chart for your creation phase. Your deadline for creation is December 9th. Please account for this as well as evidence check periods in your art forms. 

Studio Time Goal Setting: (10 minutes)
Follow the format below or use the Studio Time Journal Document

PLANNING
  • What is today’s goal? 
  • What tasks will you complete to achieve your goal? 
  • What materials do you need? 
  • What type of space will you work in? Why? 
  • What is your “stretch goal” if you accomplish your goal for today before studio time ends? 
REFLECTION
  • What evidence do you have from today’s studio time that shows accomplishment towards your goal(s)? 
  • How would you rate your Habits of Work and Self-Discipline (1-4)? Explain why. 
  • What next steps do you need to take to achieve the rest of your project goals? 
Share Goals and make them visible in the classroom

  • Write them on a large whiteboard for everyone; have someone record 
  • Encourage them to challenge each other's goals to be SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timebound). 

Studio Time (30 minutes) Suggestion for studio time today: Creating your calendar plan for creation phase or planning out materials I need asap!

25 minutes: Start studio time with directed purpose behind what you are accomplishing. Last 5 minutes clean up the room if studio time involved building materials or art supplies

5 minutes - Take time to Pair-Share your accomplishments and quick feedback before you write your reflections.

Students must be back in classroom spaces at 11:00. Manage your time wisely.

Place any documents into your IDEAS Block folder for Fall 2016.
